Plastic cosmetic surgery is a rapidly growing industry, with millions of people undergoing procedures each year. But what is it really like to go under the knife? In this article, we talk to three people who have had plastic surgery to get their first-hand accounts.
The Decision
For many people, the decision to have plastic surgery is a difficult one. It can be a big financial investment, and there are always risks involved. But for some, the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
For Sarah, a 35-year-old mother of two, the decision to have breast augmentation was an easy one. She had always been unhappy with her small breasts, and she felt that surgery would give her the confidence boost she needed.
"I knew that it was a big decision, but I also knew that it was something that I really wanted," she says. "I did a lot of research and I found a surgeon who I felt comfortable with. I'm so glad that I went through with it. It's the best decision I've ever made."
For John, a 45-year-old business executive, the decision to have liposuction was a more difficult one. He had always been overweight, and he had tried every diet and exercise program under the sun. But nothing seemed to work.
"I was at my wit's end," he says. "I was so tired of being overweight and I didn't know what else to do. I finally decided to have liposuction, and it was the best decision I could have made. I lost over 50 pounds, and I've kept it off for over a year now."
For Mary, a 60-year-old retiree, the decision to have a facelift was a way to turn back the clock.
"I had always taken care of my skin, but as I got older, I started to notice that I was looking tired and old," she says. "I decided to have a facelift, and I'm so happy with the results. I look 10 years younger, and I feel so much more confident about myself."
The Procedure
The plastic surgery procedure itself can vary depending on the type of surgery being performed. But in general, patients can expect to be under anesthesia for the duration of the procedure.
Sarah's breast augmentation surgery took about two hours. She was given general anesthesia and she slept through the entire procedure.
John's liposuction surgery took about three hours. He was also given general anesthesia and he slept through the procedure.
Mary's facelift surgery took about four hours. She was given local anesthesia, which means that she was awake during the procedure. However, she was given medication to help her relax and stay comfortable.
The Recovery
The recovery from plastic surgery can also vary depending on the type of surgery being performed. But in general, patients can expect to experience some pain and swelling in the days following surgery.
Sarah experienced some pain and swelling in her breasts after surgery. She also had to wear a special bra for six weeks to help support her implants.
John experienced some pain and swelling in his abdomen after surgery. He also had to wear a compression garment for six weeks to help reduce swelling.
Mary experienced some pain and swelling in her face after surgery. She also had to keep her head elevated for several days to help reduce swelling.
The Results
The results of plastic surgery can be dramatic. Sarah is thrilled with the results of her breast augmentation surgery. She says that her breasts now look and feel natural, and she has a new sense of confidence.
John is also happy with the results of his liposuction surgery. He says that he has lost a significant amount of weight, and he is now able to wear clothes that he never could before.
Mary is thrilled with the results of her facelift surgery. She says that she looks and feels 10 years younger, and she is more confident than ever before.
The Risks
It is important to remember that plastic surgery is a surgical procedure, and there are always risks involved. These risks include infection, bleeding, scarring, and nerve damage.
Sarah experienced some infection after her breast augmentation surgery. She was treated with antibiotics, and the infection cleared up quickly.
John experienced some bleeding after his liposuction surgery. He was treated with pressure bandages, and the bleeding stopped quickly.
Mary experienced some scarring after her facelift surgery. She is using a scar cream to help minimize the scarring.
