The Mercedes R107 is a luxurious and iconic roadster that was produced from 1971 to 1989. One of the many features that make the R107 so special is its advanced climate control system, which includes an indoor temperature sensor. This sensor helps to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature, even on the hottest or coldest days.

Over time, the indoor temperature sensor in a Mercedes R107 can fail. This can cause the climate control system to malfunction, resulting in an uncomfortable cabin temperature. If you suspect that your R107's indoor temperature sensor is not working properly, there are a few things you can do to check it.

  • The climate control system is not maintaining a comfortable cabin temperature.
  • The climate control system is blowing hot air when it should be blowing cold air, or vice versa.
  • The climate control system is not responding to changes in the temperature setting.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is possible that your R107's indoor temperature sensor is not working properly.

How to Check the Indoor Temperature Sensor

To check the indoor temperature sensor in a Mercedes R107, you will need a multimeter.

  1. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the indoor temperature sensor.
  3. Touch the probes of the multimeter to the terminals of the indoor temperature sensor.
  4. The multimeter should read between 2,000 and 5,000 ohms.
  5. If the multimeter reads anything other than 2,000 to 5,000 ohms, the indoor temperature sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced.

How to Replace the Indoor Temperature Sensor

To replace the indoor temperature sensor in a Mercedes R107, you will need a new indoor temperature sensor, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a Torx T20 screwdriver.

  1. Remove the ashtray from the center console.
  2. Remove the two Phillips head screws that secure the climate control panel.
  3. Pull the climate control panel out far enough to access the indoor temperature sensor.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the indoor temperature sensor.
  5. Remove the two Torx T20 screws that secure the indoor temperature sensor.
  6. Pull the indoor temperature sensor out of the climate control panel.
  7. Install the new indoor temperature sensor into the climate control panel.
  8. Secure the indoor temperature sensor with the two Torx T20 screws.
  9. Connect the electrical connector to the indoor temperature sensor.
  10. Push the climate control panel back into place.
  11. Secure the climate control panel with the two Phillips head screws.
  12. Install the ashtray back into the center console.

Once you have replaced the indoor temperature sensor, test the climate control system to make sure that it is working properly.

The indoor temperature sensor is an important part of the climate control system in a Mercedes R107. If the indoor temperature sensor fails, it can cause the climate control system to malfunction, resulting in an uncomfortable cabin temperature. If you suspect that your R107's indoor temperature sensor is not working properly, you can check it using a multimeter. If the indoor temperature sensor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
